Q: growth under skin that grows and periodically explodes.
I have a barb that has had an ongoing problem, all things are WNL for tank, other than hardness. I have used maracel in the past and now Dimilin. Aquarium shop thought it could be a fluke; treated with Dimilin, 10 days ago, it is about to explode again for the second time since treatment. Appetite of fish remains good, however, he appears to be thinner, and a little washed out in color. There are 5 or 6 other barbs in the tank, 40 gallons, have not lost a fish in a yr: ( relatively new introduced algae eater.) After the side opens, it heals over with a whitish protrusion that disappears after a day or two. Unclear whether itis expelled or consumed by others. Then the process begins agasin, with swelling under the skin. Please advise.
