Q: Female or Male?

Is there anyway to find out the sex of a lovebird?

Visually sexing a lovebird can be very difficult - I believe the females tend to have legs further apart and sit a little lower on the perch, and some people claim to have had success with pelvic testing (feeling the pelvic bone - females have a wider "opening" as they have to pass eggs), however none of these methods are very reliable, and poking and prodding around the bird's pelvic bone can even be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
The safest way to sex a lovebird would be to do a DNA test. You can find out more about DNA sexing here:

there is now a service avaialble where you can send off a few of your bird's feathers to a lab and get a 99.9%% accurate test results (no blood necessary).
