Rats as pets...

Hey I just wondering... I know sombody who two rats as pets and one was tame and the other one was kind of skitish. The both "pottied" on her though. Even the tame one. She said she'd only get it out for maybe not even 5 mintues and it'd poop (or pee) on her! How would rats make good pets if the have to go potty all the time?????????
thanks

Most rats will not go on you unless they can't hold it.
Frightened or stress rats will.
Normally rat feces are hard, somewhat dry, and don't smell; they roll right off of you. If the feces are mushy, wet and stinky they're either "fear poops" (scared rats have feces like this) or the rats are sick.

My rats have not once peed on me when they were out, but if they were to do so, it cleans up easily with soap and water.

My gerbils used to do the same thing. They grew out of it after awhile, because the older they get, the longer they can 'hold it!'
