Q: My blue crayfish has a "rust" spot

My electric blue crayfish has a smallish spot on one side of its carapace that looks very much like a spot of rust. When he shed his exoskeleton last time the rust spot was on his new exoskeleton as well as the old one. What is this spot? I thought it may be some type of fungal disease or something. Also, how can I treat it? Thanks.

A: My blue crayfish has a ''rust'' spot

Unfortunitally, this could be a sign of "shell disease". Please visit http://www.crabstreetjournal.com/articles/ and read
the Spirulina, Fungus and Disease articles for information on how to deal with such a disease. The information pertains
to hermit crabs but most of it is general information.
