Q: Bird doctors
Hi, I just wanted to say that for anyone who has a bird of any kind. Please before you buy a bird you should already have a number to a Avian Vet, and you should also take you new bird to meet this Vet. You should also find a Animal Hospital that is open when your vet is not. Because pet's don't only get sick between the hours of 9-5. But make sure that they also care for birds of all kinds. And remember to keep the numbers together so in case a Emergency you will be prepared.

That is VERY good advice. Some think when getting a bird for the first time, that any vet will work on birds....WRONG! There's even some that do that I wouldn't take mine to! When dealing with a sick or injured bird, time is very crucial. And as you said emergencies don't always happen from 9-5 during the week.
I think pet stores and bird breeders should give new bird owners more information on their pet. I'm sure most reputable ones do, but unfortunately, not everyone goes to reputable dealers.
As a responsible pet owner, one should study all the aspects of the pet they intend to get.
